Ioan Chezan (born 14 August 1945, Sântejude, Cluj county, Romania) is a Romanian musician and conductor. == Biography == He was born in 1945 in Sântejude, near the Gherla city, he studied firstly at Gherla school and then to Cluj, and he is the youngest of three boys of the family.〔Aris-Cristian Petreuș, Reuniunea Corală "Camerata Academica Porolissensis" – Zalău, 40 de ani de activitate neîntreruptă, Editura MediaMusica, Cluj-Napoca 2011, p. 44.〕 He attended secondary school at "Petru Maior" in Gherla, where he studied music with Tiberiu Coste between 1957–1959. During the high school he studied music with Marius Cuteanu, a great musician. Later, during his studies, he met professor Bella Torok and he is studying flute with him. He is attending Gheorghe Dima Music Academy where he was a student of the great master conductor Dorin Pop. Also here he is studying with Erwin Junger, Dan-Alexandru Voiculescu, Tudor Jarda and other great well-known musicians. After graduated the Conservatory, he began his teaching career in the fall of 1970. Ioan Chezan established in 1971, the first school of music in Salaj County.
